The Sustainable Economies Law Center provides direct legal support to individuals and groups who are working to create new solutions for resilient local economies. The Resilient Communities Legal Cafe is usually a first-come first-serve legal advice clinic.
But this Legal Cafe is special.
We're in a unique situation where people are consuming and appreciating art more than ever as we shelter in place to keep our community safe. To honor our artistic comrades, we're partnering with The Bridge Project for our June 30th Legal Cafe. Instead of serving all types of social enterprises like we usually do, we're hosting this Legal Cafe specifically for artists!
Attention artists! How can you align the internal structure of your arts organization with the values that drive your work? This cafe will provide information about the pros and cons of different organizational models, including LLC, cooperatives, 501c3, and fiscal sponsorship. We’ll also discuss what you can do to democratize an existing arts nonprofit. This cafe will give you information to help you structure or re-structure your arts organization in a way that best serves your work.
